Wallpapers Types

There are several types of wallpaper. At DesignPro we sell mainly the following types.

Paper-backed wallpapers

Paper-backed wallpapers usually consist of two layers of paper. The upper layer is embossed and printed in color, while the lower layer serves as a bearer material and remains (if it is peelable) on the surface during renovation after the upper layer has been removed.

Vinyl wallpapers

These wallpapers consist of a bearer material with a tightly bonded vinyl coating. The front side is printed, smooth, or embossed. Vinyl wallpapers are preferably used in areas where extraordinary durability is needed for the surface.

Nonwoven wallpapers

In nonwoven wallpapers, the paper backing is replaced with a special nonwoven material. Both finished nonwoven wallpapers and nonwoven wallpapers whose surfaces require painting after wallpapering are commercially available. Nonwoven wallpapers are very easy to work with: rather than applying paste to the back of the wallpaper, paste is applied directly to the wall, and the wallpaper is applied directly to the paste bed without any soaking time (“wall adhesion technique”). This is possible because the nonwoven backing makes the wallpaper dimensionally stable, which makes soaking time unnecessary. Wallpapers with nonwoven backings bridge small cracks on the surface and, for redecorating at a later time, can be removed from the wall dry without leaving any residue.
